Theresa May Retires

Her speech is in one paragraph.

"Three years ago, the British made their choice and, contrary to forecasts, decided to leave the European Union. A democratic state must respect the choice of citizens, and I made every effort to implement the Brexit. I did not succeed. Now the new prime minister, who will be chosen by the Conservative Party before June 7, my last day at the post, must take up this task. My successor will have to reach a consensus in parliament, which I could not reach. But this will not be possible without compromises on both sides. For three years, we have reduced the deficit, reduced public debt, created jobs and stepped up the fight against climate change. This is the result of the work of the modern conservative government. We must not forget that we are one country with a great future. I am the second woman in the post of prime minister, but certainly not the last. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to serve the country I love."
